Mitä tarkoittaa

Sana 'were' on englannin kielen verbi, joka on 'be'-verbistä johdettu muoto. Se on imperfektimuoto, joka käytetään monikossa ja toisen persoonan muodossa. 'Were' ilmenee usein menneissä lauseissa, joissa kuvataan tapahtumia tai tiloja, jotka olivat voimassa menneisyydessä. Suomeksi 'were' käännetään yleensä 'olit', 'olimme', 'olitte' tai 'olivat', riippuen lauseen kontekstista.
