Mitä tarkoittaa

Scab on biologinen termi, joka kuvaa haavan pinnalle muodostuvaa suojaavaa kerrosta, joka koostuu verestä, kudosnesteestä ja kuolleista soluista. Se kehittyy, kun iho vaurioituu, ja sen tarkoituksena on estää infektioita ja edistää paranemista. Scab voi myös viitata eräisiin kasvi- ja eläintautien ilmentymiin, joissa kuoriutuneita kerroksia syntyy infektoituneen alueen pinnalle. Scab on tärkeä osa kehon luonnollista parantumisprosessia.
