Mitä tarkoittaa

Palp (monikko: palpit) on eläinten, erityisesti niveljalkaisten, kuten hämähäkkien ja äyriäisten, raaja tai osio, joka on kehittynyt erityisesti tuntemista ja kosketusta varten. Palpit ovat usein herkkävarusteisia ja niissä voi olla aistinsoluja, jotka auttavat eläimiä havaitsemaan ympäristönsä. Hämähäkkien palpit ovat tärkeä osa niiden lisääntymiskäyttäytymistä, sillä ne voivat toimia myös parittelueliminä. Palpit voivat vaihdella suuresti eri eläinlajien välillä, ja niiden muoto ja koko voivat vaikuttaa eläimen kykyyn navigoida ja tunnistaa saaliita.
