Mitä tarkoittaa
Dissidentti on henkilö, joka ilmaisee vastustavansa tai kritisoivansa vallitsevia poliittisia tai sosiaalisia järjestelmiä, erityisesti autoritaarisissa tai totalitaarisissa valtioissa. Dissidentit voivat olla erilaisia aktivisteja, kirjailijoita, taiteilijoita tai muita, jotka kyseenalaistavat yhteiskunnallisia normeja tai valtion toimia. Historian saatossa monet dissidentit ovat joutuneet vainon, vangitsemisen tai jopa kuoleman kohteeksi. Heidän toimintansa ja sananvapautensa puolustaminen on usein tärkeä osa demokratian ja ihmisoikeuksien puolustamista.
