Mitä tarkoittaa

Sana 'branch' viittaa ensisijaisesti puiden ja muiden kasvien oksiin, jotka kasvavat rungosta ja levittävät lehviä ja hedelmiä. Se voi kuitenkin myös tarkoittaa organisaation tai yrityksen eri osastoja tai toimintoja. Esimerkiksi 'pankkien haarat' tarkoittaa pankkien eri toimipisteitä eri paikoissa. Termiä käytetään myös metaforisesti kuvaamaan eriytyneitä tietopolkuja, kuten tieteenaloja tai tutkimusalueita.
