Demiurge on käsite, joka juontaa juurensa antiikin filosofiaan ja gnostilaisuuteen. Se viittaa usein olentoon, joka on vastuussa maailman tai universumin luomisesta, mutta ei välttämättä ole sen korkein tai täydellisin olento. Platon käytti termiä 'demiurge' teoksessaan 'Timeus', jossa hän kuvaa demiurgia kosmisen järjestyksen luojana.
